Cody Trepte
Cody Trepte is an artist living and working in New York City. A recent graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Trepte has worked in various media exploring ideas of information and technology. His work often plays with the banal nature of self-portraiture, information, computer culture, and the analog language of technology.
my exposed insecurity: social security number
“I am interested in providing my most personal information in its truest digital form, binary information, to strangers. In a way, this is no different than the way that we send credit cards, passwords and social security numbers over the Internet everyday. My work focuses on the technological mechanisms of modern life that often go unnoticed. Technology has streamlined many aspects of our lives. My work reverses this assumption, using manual processes to deconstruct, reconstruct, rearrange, extrapolate and recode banal data. I see information as another form of self-portraiture that can be reassembled into many forms.” — Cody Trepte.
